MYANMAR
Myanmar is the largest country in Southeast Asia, almost the size of Texas.
55 million people live in Myanmar and 80 percent are Buddhists who worship in over 10,000 Buddhist temples. Only 5 percent of the people in Myanmar are evangelical Christians.
There are thousands of villages in Myanmar that have never heard about Jesus where the 360Serve church planters serve.
The biggest challenge in Myanmar is the current civil war that broke out in 2021 from a military coup.
This has resulted in violent crackdowns on civilians, thousands of deaths, social protests, thousands of refugees and homeless, poverty and economic problems throughout the country.
Support a Church Planting Pastor in Myanmar
Chi grew up in Myanmar, near Rangoon in a strong Buddhist family. His family forced him to worship 27 dead spirits by eating specific food offerings. If he violated these offerings, spirits would attack him and he would become violently sick in his stomach, suffer headaches or vomit. In fear of these 27 spirits he ran away from his home to an area called Three Pagoda Pass and found himself attending a Christmas outreach event where he first heard about Jesus.
For the next three years he studied God’s Word and is now a pastor and church planter. His vision is to go back to his family and plant the first church where he grew up. Chi told me, “My dream is to plant the first church where I grew up. I thought about Jesus’ words to the man Jesus healed, 'Go home to your family and tell them how much the Lord has done for you.'” (Mark 5:19) You can support a pastor like Chi for $50 per month.
