CUBA

Cuba is the largest island in the Caribbean, similar in size to Tennessee, it is located just 90 miles off the coast of Florida where 11.2 million people live. There are 16 provinces in Cuba and the capital is Havana where 2 million people reside.

Cuba is a Communist country since 1959 with Fidel Castro’s revolution. Today Miguel Diaz-Canel is the president. Because of strict communist policies imposed by the government, the Cuban people face extensive social, economic and spiritual oppression, along with much persecution and hardship.

Many Cubans confess Catholicism but less than 10% go to church. 11% of Cubans are evangelical Christians.

It is estimated that 1/4 of the country’s population is deeply committed to Santeria, an Afro-Caribbean Voodoo type of witchcraft resulting in satanic bondage. As many as 3 million Cubans are caught up in this dark practice.

The effects of Santeria on the Cuban people are often so tragic. People get sick, paralyzed, blind, they face mental illness, they turn to drugs, alcohol, blood sacrifice, dark magic, many become demon possessed and some attempt suicide.

Several of the church planters supported by 360Serve have been saved from Santeria and are now going back to Santeria strongholds to share God’s love and plant house churches.
